Auctions
How do Dutch auctions work?
Prices drop automatically at fixed intervals. The first buyer to click Buy Now instantly secures the domain.
Is there sniping?
Dutch auctions are first-come, first-served. Ascending auctions include a 5-minute anti-sniping extension.
Can I cancel an auction?
Once verified and paid, auctions run to completion unless ownership changes or verification fails.
Buying
How do I buy a domain?
Hit Buy Now at the current price, complete Stripe checkout, and we connect you with the seller for transfer.
Do I pay transfer fees?
Yes. Buyers cover Nominet’s standard transfer fee.
Selling
How do I verify a domain?
Use WHOIS ownership validation or add a DNS TXT record (_auctioning=token).
Can I list trademark domains?
No. Trademark infringements, typosquats, celebrity names, and illegal content are strictly prohibited.
Payments
What payment methods are accepted?
Stripe—covering all major cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay.
Are there buyer fees?
No buyer premiums. The hammer price is the price you pay (plus any transfer fees).
Account
What is competence level (CL)?
A trust score based on successful transactions, verifications, and disputes.
What happens if a transaction fails?
Buyers may receive −2 CL and sellers −1 CL depending on responsibility.
